1. Expert 11+ Tuition by Experienced Tutors
At The Exam Coach, we believe in providing the best online-learning experience for every student. Each 45-minute session is led by an experienced tutor or teacher with expertise in 11+ exam preparation – the same tutors teaching our courses! Our team is skilled in delivering content effectively, making learning both enjoyable and productive.
2. Interactive Chat-based Communication
We understand that some students may feel more comfortable using chat rather than video or microphone access on their first encounter with us. Therefore, in our weekly workshops, children cannot use their camera or microphone. Our students can actively participate through the chat function, engaging with their tutor in a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere.
In our courses, students have access to their cameras and microphones, as well as being able to use the chat. This gives them an option as to how they participate.
3. Summary Class Notes
We want to ensure students always get the most out of our sessions, even if they don’t manage to write everything down in the session itself. That's why we always provide comprehensive class notes, sent out 24 hours after every workshop. These notes summarize the key concepts, vocabulary and techniques covered, making it easy for students to review and refresh their learning.
Class notes are also among the documents provided for all of our course sessions, giving you a preview of the materials provided on our courses too.
4. Small Class Size
To maintain a conducive learning environment, we limit the numbers in each workshop to a maximum of 30 students, mimicking a school classroom environment. This way, our tutors can provide personalized attention and address individual students more effectively.
5. Get to Know The Exam Coach Team
In each workshop, we offer a brief introduction to The Exam Coach and the tutor leading the session. This introduction helps you become familiar with our tutoring staff, as well as our style and approach, so you can feel comfortable about the quality of tuition you will receive before booking onto our courses. We work with a small team of tutors to ensure the quality of what we deliver.
6. Exam-Style Questions and Competitive Testing
We believe in preparing students for success in the actual 11 Plus exams using real exam questions and techniques. Our workshops include exam-style questions and answers, as well as competitive testing to challenge students and build their confidence when tackling real exam questions. The first few students to answer each question correctly will often be recognised and congratulated. In the 11 Plus, speed and accuracy are vitally important.
7. Self-Assessment Class Test and Answers
To encourage self-improvement, we provide self-assessment opportunities during these weekly workshops. Students will always be tested at the end of a workshop, with the answers to this test provided on the class notes. This allows parents to gauge their child’s performance and students to thoroughly understand the solutions to any questions they answered incorrectly.
8. Walkthrough of Answers
When looking through exam-style questions, we also focus on a walkthrough of the answers – looking into why some answers were incorrect as well as the correct answers. This helps students grasp the reasoning and logic behind each solution, minimising future mistakes and increasing the likelihood of improvement in the future.
9. Stand-Alone Sessions
You don’t have to commit to a long-term schedule with our weekly workshops. Each session is a standalone experience, so students can attend those which interest them the most without any obligation to continue with future sessions. No prior knowledge or attendance is required to participate in any of our weekly sessions.
