Oversubscription policy — Where qualifying applications for admission exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:

  1. Looked After Children or Previously Looked After Children who score 320 or above in the selection test.

  2. Up to 20 places will be allocated to the highest scoring candidates on the Order of Merit List who are eligible for the pupil premium on the date that the 11+ test is taken and who achieve a standardised test score of 320 or above.

  3. Places will then be allocated in descending score order from the Rank Order of Merit List, highest scoring first, until all places are filled. 

Where two or more applicants achieve the same rank, preference will first be given to the child eligible for the pupil premium if they have not already been offered a place, followed by the girl living closest to the school by straight line measurement, measured from the school main entrance front doors.

Colchester County High School for Girls is a selective, girls, grammar school in Colchester, Essex. The school was established in 1909 and moved to its current site in 1957. 

The school always ranks well in exam league tables. In 2018, the school came joint first in the country in the GCSE league tables. It became an academy in 2011 and specialises in Science and Languages, offering French, German and Latin.
