  1. Applicants who are or have been looked after children.

  2. Applicants with exceptional medical or psychological needs.

  3. Applicants with a sibling already at the school.

  4. Applicants who live closest to the school.

School Summary

Ilford County High School (ICHS) was founded in 1901 and is an all-boys, selective grammar school in Redbridge, North East London. The school specialises in science. 

Since 2012, the school has been part of the Leading Edge Partnership, which encourages schools to work together and  learn from each other in order to improve education standards. 

The school’s most recent Ofsted report described ICHS as ‘a vibrant and dynamic school that has not stood still since the last inspection. Students and their parents hold it in very high regard’.

Exam Information

Exam style: GL Assessment for the Redbridge Grammar Schools.

Exam types:

  • English

  • Verbal reasoning

  • Mathematics

  • Non-verbal reasoning

Exam length — 2 × 60 minute exams.

Pass mark —  104.

Other exam information — The two papers will each test two subjects. One will test English and verbal reasoning, the other mathematics and non-verbal reasoning.

Ilford County High School uses the same 11+ Entrance Test as Woodford County High School for Girls. The test will be taken at the school.

Scores will be standardised.
