Oversubscription policy — Before the application of oversubscription criteria, eligible students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which names the school and who have passed the assessment will be admitted. As a result of this the published admissions number will be reduced accordingly.

In each of the identified criteria below, a requirement of applicants is that they have passed the Governors’ Entrance Examination.

Where qualifying applications for admission exceed the number of places available, places will be determined as follows:

  1.  Baptised Roman Catholic ‘Looked After Girls’ and Baptised Roman Catholic ‘Previously Looked After Girls’.

  2. Baptised Roman Catholic girls who have sisters* in the school at the time of admission.

  3. Baptised Roman Catholic girls who attend an associated Primary School and live in a nominated Local Pastoral Area.

  4. Other Baptised Roman Catholic girls.

  5. Other looked after girls and previously looked after girls.

  6.  Baptised girls of other denominations.

  7. Other girls. 

School Summary

Loreto Grammar School was established in 1909 and is an all-girls, Roman Catholic grammar school in Altrincham, Cheshire. The school became an academy in 2012 and specialises in science and maths 

The school is located in the Diocese of Shrewsbury and it is run under the Loreto Education Trust and Sisters of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Sisters of Loreto). Loreto Grammar School has many international links, with over 120 over ‘Loreto schools’ worldwide. It also has sister schools in India, Australia and Spain.

This Catholic school aims to provide its girls with a set of educational experiences that help them as people - shaping their values, their attitudes, their faith and their sacramental life. Thereby the school aims to collaborate in the creative work of God as He seeks to grow each girl into the woman He has it in mind for her to be.
