School Summary

Newstead Wood School was established in 1957 and is an all-girls, selective grammar school in Bromley, South East London. It became an academy in 2011. The school specialises in engineering and languages. 

In 2008, the school was recognised as a Gifted and Talented Lead School. It has won many awards, including the International School Award and was described by Ofsted as “an outstandingly successful school”.

Exam Information

Exam style GL Assessment.

Exam types:

  • Verbal reasoning

  • Non-verbal reasoning

Exam length — 2 × 40-50 minute exams.

Pass mark —  For 2021 entry, the required standard is a score of 210 marks.

Other exam information:

  • Both exams are multiple choice.

  • All answers will be entered on a separate answer sheet.

  • One exam will be fully on verbal reasoning and the other non-verbal reasoning.

  • The total score from both these exams will be used to decide admissions.

  •  If applicants score the same overall, candidates will be ranked according to their non-verbal reasoning exam result.

Scores will be standardised.
