Over-subscription policy —  Candidates will only be considered eligible for admission if they are deemed to be of selective ability as a result of the testing process. There is no predetermined pass mark, instead places will be allocated in rank order.

 Where qualifying applications for admission exceed the number of places available, places will be determined as follows:

  1. Looked after children (Children in public care) or previously looked after children which achieve the qualifying standard.

  2. Children eligible for Pupil Premium and/or Service Premium who live in Gloucester City and achieve the qualifying standard (15 places).

  3. Children eligible for Pupil Premium and/or Service Premium who live outside  Gloucester City and achieve the qualifying standard (15 places).

  4. Children who achieved the qualifying standard for admission, in rank order of scores.

School Summary

Denmark Road High School (previously called High School for Girls Gloucester) was established in 1883 and is an all-girls, selective grammar school in Gloucestershire. It became an academy in 2011. 

The school has an attached sixth form which accepts both boys and girls. The school is constantly oversubscribed due to good exam results. It is ranked as one of the top schools in the country.
