School Summary

Kendrick School is a selective, all-girls grammar school which became an academy in 2011. The school specialises in Languages, Mathematics and Science. It has been awarded ‘Outstanding’ in its last four Ofsted inspections. The school also has the Healthy Schools and Sportsmark status.

Kendrick School is named after John Kendrick, a Reading cloth merchant who died in 1624. John Kendrick left a substantial charitable bequest of £12,500 to the towns of Reading and Newbury to provide employment and education for the poor.  These funds were mismanaged and subject to legal challenge meaning that it was not until the 1870s that the school was actually founded.

Ofsted rated this school as ‘outstanding’ in 2008. Find their reports here.
