Over-subscription policy —  Candidates will only be considered eligible for admission if they are deemed to be of selective ability as a result of the testing process. There is no predetermined pass mark, instead places will be allocated in rank order.

 Where qualifying applications for admission exceed the number of places available, places will be determined as follows:

  1. Any children in public care who have met the qualifying standard.

  2. Any children who appear to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted who have met the qualifying standard.

  3. Any candidate attracting Pupil Premium funding (those who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the six years prior to the test day) who have met the qualifying standard.

  4. Other qualifying candidates in test rank order.

School Summary

Marling School was founded in 1887 and is an all-boys, selective grammar school in Gloucestershire. It became an academy in 2011. The school has a reputation for encouraging a child’s musical ability.

In 2020,  17% of all GCSE grades awarded are at the very highest grade 9 with 65% at grades 9-7 and 88% at grades 9-6.
