Oversubscription policy — Before the application of oversubscription criteria, eligible students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which names the school will be admitted. As a result of this the published admissions number will be reduced accordingly.

Where qualifying applications for admission exceed the number of places available, places will be determined as follows:

  1. Looked after and previously looked after children who achieve a score equal to or higher than the adjusted cut off score for this school, by rank order of the highest score in the 11-plus examination.

  2. Up to 12 places will be allocated to candidates who achieve a score equal to or higher than the adjusted cut off score for this school, by rank order of the highest score in the 11-plus examination and who qualify for the free school meals pupil premium or Ever 6 FSM2.

  3. Other candidates by rank order of the highest score in the 11-plus examination.

To resolve any tied positions within this list the following criteria will be used (strictly in this order):

  1. Pupils who qualify for the free school meals pupil premium or Ever 6 FSM3.

  2. Pupils whose home address is nearest the preferred school. Measurements are taken by a straight line on a map using the Council's electronic mapping system – the shorter the distance the higher the priority.

  3. In the event of there still being a tie, there will be a random ballot using an electronic random number generator.
