Oversubscription policy — Before the application of oversubscription criteria, students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which names the school and who have passed the assessment will be admitted. As a result of this the published admissions number will be reduced accordingly.

 Where qualifying applications for admission exceed the number of places available, places will be determined as follows:

  1. Eligible boys who are classed as “Looked After” or have previously been ‘Looked After.

  2. Eligible boys who appear to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.

  3. Eligible boys who live within the historic Borough of Poole or Poole postcodes BH12, BH13, BH14, BH15, BH16, BH17, BH18 and BH21 3-- and who currently (31 October 2021) receive Pupil Premium.

  4. Eligible boys who currently (31 October 2021) live within the historic Borough of Poole or Poole postcodes BH12, BH13, BH14, BH15, BH16, BH17, BH18, and BH21 3-- and who do not receive Pupil Premium.

  5. Eligible boys who are the sons of current members of staff where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time when the application for admission to the school is made.

  6. Eligible boys who live outside the historic Borough of Poole or Poole postcodes BH12, BH13, BH14, BH15, BH16, BH17, BH18 and BH21 3--, who currently (31 October 2021) receive Pupil Premium in rank order of the entrance test scores.

  7. Eligible boys who live outside the historic Borough of Poole or Poole postcodes BH12, BH13, BH14, BH15, BH16, BH17, BH18 and BH21 3-- who do not receive Pupil Premium, in rank order of the entrance test scores.

School Summary

Poole Grammar School was established in 1904 and is an all-boys’ grammar school in Poole, Dorset. The school became an academy in 2011 and specialises in both maths and computing.

The school boasts top facilities and a large campus with numerous playing fields. Poole Grammar School pupils achieve some of the best GCSE, A level and Oxbridge entry results in the South West.
