Over-subscription policy — Applicants who have an Education, Health and Care Plan which names Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and who meet the academic standard are admitted with the highest priority.
Where qualifying applications for admission exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated based on 11+exam rank order.
Where two or more applicants achieve the same test score, rank order will be determined as follows:
Looked after children (Children in public care) or previously looked after children.
Children eligible for Pupil Premium and/or Service Premium.
Children resident within or attending state schools* within the catchment area.
Scores in the verbal reasoning elements of the entrance test.
Scores in the non-verbal reasoning elements of the entrance test.
By distance from the school, with priority given to children who live nearest to the school as measured by postcode.

Queen Elizabeth Grammar School (QEGS) was founded in 1564 and is a mixed, grammar School in Cumbria. The school became an academy in 2011. It is the only grammar school in Cumbria.
