Oversubscription policy — Entry to the School is based firstly on the scores gained in the 11+ Entrance Test.
Pupils who achieve an equal score which is over the qualifying minimum score are then prioritised based on the following criteria:
(Previously) Looked After Children with a score up to 5 marks below an eligible score.
Children in care outside of England with a score up to 5 marks below an eligible score.
Children with Pupil or Service Premium living within the catchment area with a score up to 5 marks below an eligible score.
Children whose permanent home address is within the catchment area.
Children whose permanent home address is NOT within the catchment area; Evidence of all of the above will need to be submitted and approved in order for a child to be admitted.
School Summary
Reading School (or Reading Grammar School) is an all-boys grammar school with optional boarding. There are no fees for day students, and the boarders only pay for their boarding costs. The boys are only allowed to board during the week and return home at weekends.
The school is one of the oldest in England; it was founded in 1125 as the school of Reading Abbey. It gained academy status in 2011 and specialises in humanities and science.
