Catchment area — Colyton Grammar School does not have a catchment area however in the case of a tie, the location and distance of the child’s house to the school will be used to make the final decision.
Oversubscription policy — Before the application of oversubscription criteria, eligible students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which names the school and who have passed the assessment will be admitted. As a result of this the published admissions number will be reduced accordingly.
Where qualifying applications for admission exceed the number of places available, places will be determined as follows:
Looked After Children or previously Looked After Children who are on the eligible list.
Children on the eligible list who are entitled to pupil premium, including the service premium. Parents/guardians will be required to provide evidence of eligibility and the school may request confirmation from the applicant’s home local authority.
Rank order based on the total score achieved in the tests of children on the eligible list.
In the event of a tied ranking for the last available place, proximity to the School will be used. This will be determined by measuring a straight line from the main School Reception front door to the house address of the applicant.

Colyton Grammar School (CGS) was established in 1546 and is a mixed, grammar school in Colyton, Devon. The school became an academy in 2011 and has been classified as ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED.
The school specialises in science. It has Leading Edge status and is an Ambassador School for the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth.
