11 Plus Preparation Resources For Luckley House School
Exam Information
Exam style — School’s own exam and CAT 4.
Exam types:
- English (writing) 
- CAT4 (verbal, non-verbal, spatial and quantitative reasoning) 
Exam length — 72 minutes.
The CAT4 test is composed of 8 short tests assessing the following subsections of the four areas above:
- Figure Classification (10 mins) 
- Figure Matrices (10 mins) 
- Verbal Classification (8 mins) 
- Verbal Analogies (8 mins) 
- Number Analogies (10 mins) 
- Number Series (8 mins) 
- Figure Analysis (9 mins) 
- Figure Recognition (9 mins) 
Pass mark — There is no fixed pass mark for the admissions test. On completion of the tests, all candidates receive an age-standardized score.
Other exam information:
- A non-refundable fee of £100 is paid for registration. 
- The school recommends interested applicants apply end of November of the year prior to the child joining year 7. 
- The school’s English paper tests the child’s creative writing abilities. 
- The CAT 4 is an online cognitive abilities test that assesses acquired skills in verbal, non-verbal, spatial and quantitative reasoning. 
- The entrance examinations are held in the January of the year 6. 
- Applicants will have an interview with the headteacher or senior member of staff as part of the assessment process. They will be asked to complete a personal ‘storyboard’ to showcase their hobbies achievements and interests. 
- A report from the child’s current headteacher will also be required.
