Stratford Girls’ Grammar School (formerly known as Stratford-upon-Avon Grammar School for Girls) was built on the historic ‘Shottery Manor’ which dates back to the 14th century. It is a fully selective girls-only grammar school and sixth form which became an academy in 2011.
The school achieved specialist status in languages in 2006 and science in 2007. It was awarded the international school award in 2007 and the Artsmark Silver award in 2008. Stratford Girls’ Grammar School is constantly one of the top twenty state schools in England, and it is recognised as a centre of academic excellence.

Exam style — CAT4 (Cognitive Abilities Test).
Exam types:
CAT4 Select (verbal, non-verbal, spatial and quantitative reasoning)
Exam length — 72 minutes.
The CAT4 test is composed of 8 short tests assessing the following subsections of the four areas above:

Number Analogies (10 mins)
Number Series (8 mins)
Figure Analysis (9 mins)

The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) is administered in October of Year 6, and the school's own English and maths exams are set in January of Year 6.
Only after passing this, will your child be invited back to take the school’s own English and maths exams.

Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School (BVGS) is an all-boys selective grammar school, with a mixed sixth form. This top 50 state school is one of the oldest schools in the UK and was founded in 1527.

Oversubscription policy — In each of the identified criteria below, a requirement of applicants is that they have passed the entrance examinations.
Where qualifying applications for admission exceed the number of places available, places will be determined as follows:
Children of selective ability who are in public care or have previously been in public care.
Children of selective ability who are eligible for the Pupil Premium.
Children of selective ability who reside in the catchment area.
Children of selective ability who already have siblings in the school, where those siblings will remain on roll when the child is admitted.
Children of selective ability who have a parent who is employed by the school and has been so for two or more years at the time of sitting the entrance examination, or who has been recruited to a post where there is a recognised skill shortage.
Children who have gained grade 2 or above in Music. (The percentage of children offered a place under this criterion shall not exceed 5% of the total number of offers made. If more candidates meet the criterion for Music, places will be offered to those children scoring highest on the entrance examination.)
Once criteria 1 to 6 have been applied, the remaining places will be offered on the basis of overall performance in the entrance examination.

Heckmondwike Grammar School was established in 1898 and is a mixed grammar school in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire. The school became an academy in 2010 and specialises in technology and languages.
