If less than 10 places are allocated under criterion 1, remaining places up to the maximum of 10 will be available to children eligible for pupil premium* living in catchment, who have not qualified but who have achieved a score of at least 110 in the Admissions Test. In the event of more than 10 pupils qualifying under this rule the distance tie — breaker will apply i.e. places will be offered to the ten children living closest to the school.

Eligible children of staff in either or both of the following circumstances: Where the member of staff has been employed at the School for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the School is made, and/or the member of staff has been employed to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.

Children who have exceptional medical or social needs** which can only be met at this school supported by evidence as set out by Buckinghamshire County Council.
Once the rules have been applied, then any further places will be offered in distance order using the methodology set out by Buckinghamshire County Council here www.buckscc.gov.uk/services/education/school-admissions/moving-up-to-secondaryschool/understanding-the-terms-we-use
Where the school can take some, but not all, of the children who qualify under one of these rules, we will give priority by taking account of the next rule (or rules) in the numbered list.

The problem-solving section will test a child’s ability to use words and numbers to solve problems with multiple steps.
The analysis component asks candidates to use information from a variety of different given sources, in order to answer questions. The context of this section is likely to be unfamiliar to all candidates but in the event of a candidate being familiar with the context, they will not have any advantage.
The first three sections of the exam before the break will be adaptive, meaning questions change and are tailored to the student's performance in previous questions. The last two sections of the exam are non-adaptive, and all students will receive the same questions.
A non-refundable fee of £140 is charged to sit the 11+ entrance exam for Notting Hill and Ealing High School.
Registrations must be submitted by the end of November when your child is in Year 6.

Exam Information
Exam style — GL Assessment/The Kent Test
Exam topic:
Reasoning
Verbal, non-verbal and spatial
English and maths
Creative writing
Exam length — 2 x 1 hour exams + a 40-minute writing exercise.
Pass rate — In recent years, 15,000+ applicants took the Kent test; only 6,500 passed.
Other exam information:
The reasoning, English and maths tests are multiple-choice with a separate answer sheet.
The first test will be an English and Maths paper. Each section will include a 5 minute practice exercise followed by a 25 minute test. The English section will involve a comprehension exercise as well as some additional questions drawn from a set designed to test literacy skills.
The second test will be the reasoning paper. It will take about 1 hour, including the practice sections and questions. It will contain a verbal reasoning section and a non-verbal reasoning section of roughly the same length. The non-verbal reasoning will be split into short sections, administered and timed individually.
Finally, there will also be a writing exercise which will not be marked but may be used by a local headteacher panel as part of the headteacher assessment stage of the process. 40 minutes will be allowed for the writing task, including 10 minutes planning time.
Scores:
Your child will get three standardised scores (one for English, one for maths and one for reasoning) and a total (aggregate) score.
Standardisation is a statistical process which compares your child's performance with the average performance of other children in each test. A slight adjustment is made to take account of each child's age so that the youngest are not at a disadvantage.
Pass mark:
To qualify, children needed a total score of 332 or more, with no single score lower than 108. Test scores range from 69 to 141. The highest possible total score is 423.
If your child did not reach this threshold score and their primary school referred their case to the local Head Teacher Assessment Panel, the panel will have looked at their achievement in school and examples of their work, including the writing task completed on the day, before a final decision was made.
Please note that a score of over 332 does NOT mean your child is guaranteed a place at your chosen school.
